Club trophies

Adam Lindsay trophy
 Tarwin Lower juvenile race is in honour of Adam, who assisted in the early years of conducting races.


Dancs cup
A juvenile road trophy, honouring Club president Jim Dench using his parents’ name.


Drowley trophy
A memorial track wheelrace is a track event for club members in memory of George Drowley.


Edney cup
U/12 track handicap, honouring Jack Edney, 40 years as club treasurer.


Giardina cup
It was an old Morwell club trophy, when they no longer had juniors turning up to race; they donated it to Leongatha as a track trophy for our juniors. (800m U/12 handicap)


Geary cup
Junior U/12 trophy, honouring foundation member Jim Geary 


George Martin
A senior handicap road race in honour of the first club president. (Leongatha – Nerrena – Mardan – Leongatha)
George was an ex-racing cyclist who was influential in the Club‘s formation, becoming president for the first 3 years.  His involvement continued with the Club as a referee and handicapper in the early years.

Lex Watt  trophy
In honour of Lex Watt, who died in a truck accident at a Yarram level crossing. Lex rode with the Club in 1960 (his name is not recorded in the Club records after Sept 61)


Love cup
Vic Love – early club president on seven occasions


Mark Murphy memorial
A trophy (3) assigned after Mark’s death in 2013, for Junior aggregates a,b,c
Mark’s passion for junior development of riders evolved to become the “Leongatha Junior Experience”


McIndoe cup
The Shire president William McIndoe donated it in 1960 as a trophy for the senior handicap race to Berry’s Creek and back. Later, it was changed to a scratch race around the Pound Creek circuit.


Minns cup
juvenile track handicap, honouring Les Minns for his involvement with the club.


Sprag trophy
The ‘Wonthaggi Sprag Award’ was created by the riders from Wonthaggi.
as symbolic of the Coal industry in Wonthaggi that operated from 1909 until 1968
(Sprag – simple brake on a vehicle, especially a stout stick or bar inserted between the spokes of a wheel to check its motion)

Alan Williams, honouring him as a founding member of the club

Woodchoppers
An award [tongue in cheek] is given to the rider who has not achieved during the road season by the previous holder.
