The Leongatha Cycling Club was established in 1959 and has a proud history, which you can explore on this website.*
In 1979, thanks to the dedicated efforts of club members, a new velodrome was built, hosting numerous cycling carnivals featuring Olympians and elite cyclists until 2007. The club has been a strong advocate for junior development by holding successful open events from 1997 to 2017
For many years, club racing was a weekend activity, featuring road races on Saturdays during the winter and events at the velodrome through the summer. More recently, the club ventured into holding Cyclocross events along with ‘combines’ with other Gippsland Clubs.
By 2018, the legal requirements for racing on public roads had become more stringent. Despite this, several combined club events were still held during that time. Additionally, other emerging cycling disciplines were influencing the number of participants in club events.
In 2025, the club will continue to offer social rides and junior development at the velodrome.
