Graded scratch races – hosted by the Carnegie-Caulfield Cycling Club
It was a grey overcast day with a slight breeze in the morning for the ITT, but by the start of the graded scratch races at 2pm, the breeze had stopped and a few spots of rain began to fall, increasing to a drizzle at the finish. Due to the uncertain weather the total entries for the graded scratch races was well down on Saturday. Leongatha had 6 riders competing, including Ronald Purtle, Clem Fries and Brett Franklin riding A grade. In B grade Kevin Feely, with Neil White and Phil Hanley in C grade. A & B grades started together as did C & D. A trio of riders including two Seight team riders soon broke away from the A grade field, maintaining the break to the finish. Brett as usual, led the main field for most of the time, but was unplaced as were all the Leongatha riders. All groups stayed together until the sprint finishes. Visit the CCCC site for results.
