Friday night may have been a very pleasant evening to be trackside but it appears the few hot days had sapped the energy levels of most competitors. The track was warm and it should have been conducive to some new personal bests. However, the only riders to make the most of conditions were Renee Hardacre and Ryan Beggs.
The opening race for the night was an 8 lap scratch race for the A grade riders. For 6 laps it was a steady pace but with 2 laps to go Fletcher Hill quickly moved around the bunch and opened a gap which the chasers could not bridge. Fletcher took the win from Oscar Davis and Ethan Davis into 3rd. In the B grade 4 lap scratch race, Ryan Beggs went out hard and dropped the others as he went through to win. Stephen Spencer came home in second just ahead of Renee Hardacre.
The 1 lap time trials saw the A graders all down almost 2 seconds on the better times. Fastest for the night was Fletcher Hill on 36.37 sec, followed by Ethan Davis 37.22 sec, Oscar davis 37.51 sec and Ryder Evans on 38.31 sec. Renee Hardacre showed the extra road training she is doing is making an impact as she raced through in a new PB at 42.85 sec. Ryan Beggs also put in a new PB at 46.66 sec whilst Stephen Spencer clocked a 51.02 sec.
In the A grade a lap handicap Fletcher Hill (Scr) raced hard to round up the others and flashed home to win by a narrow margin from Ryder(45) and Ethan (10). In the re-handicap it was Ethan (20) who found the extra 10m was just the ticket who took the win from Ryder (55) and Fletcher (scr).
In the B grade 1 lap handicap, Renee (scr) flew off the mark and quickly closed out the lead to the others. She went through for a clear win from Ryan (15) and Stephen (35). In the re-handicap, Renee (scr) was again up for the challenge as she moved away quickly. However, Ryan Beggs made a better start and put up a stout fight but Renee had enough speed to take another win from Ryan (20) and Stephen (55).
With riders not having great energy levels it was decided to call it quits after the Elimination Race. This event was won by Fletcher from Ryan Beggs and Ryder Evans into 3rd place.
